Application of Optical Transceivers

The optical transceiver module is one of the core components of network communication, which is used for photoelectric conversion. The transmitting end converts electrical signals into optical signals, which are transmitted through optical fibers. The receiving end then converts the optical signals into electrical signals. Simply put, where optical fibers are used, optical modules will be used.

So what are the application ranges of optical modules?

1, Switch: In enterprise network deployment and data center construction, optical modules and switches are indispensable. Optical modules are mainly used to transmit electrical signals and optical signals, while switches play a forwarding role in optical signals. Switching opportunities use GBIC, SFP, SFP+, XFP optical transceiver modules, etc.

2, Server: The server is generally used with a switch, corresponding to the optical module used by the switch.

3, Fiber optic transceivers: Fiber optic transceivers are mainly used in long-distance networks that cannot be covered by network cables and require the use of fiber optic to extend signal transmission. They are commonly used in fields such as fiber optic home entry, security monitoring, community network construction, and broadcasting and television transmission. The fiber optic transceiver adopts SFP optical modules.

4, Fiber optic router: The network interface of the fiber optic router uses fiber optic, which can be used to analyze the optical signals in the incoming fiber optic. Fiber optic routers generally use SFP optical modules.

5, Fiber optic network card: Fiber optic network card can provide reliable fiber optic connection for users’ computers on fast Ethernet networks, providing reliable fiber optic to home and fiber optic to desktop solutions for users. The fiber optic network card adopts SFP optical modules, SFP+optical modules, etc.

6, Video optical transceiver: Both analog and digital optical transceivers require the use of optical modules. The optical module integrates the driving circuit with the laser, photodetector, and amplifier, making the digital optical transceiver a debugging free product, greatly improving the stability of on-site applications. Some high-definition optical terminals may use SFP optical modules, such as fiber optic high-speed ball machines.

7, Communication base station: In mobile communication systems, mobile communication base stations require optical modules to interconnect devices, connect fixed and wireless parts, and connect devices to mobile stations through wireless transmission in the air. Communication base stations often use SFP and XFP optical modules.
