Does the SAS interface support SATA3.0 hard drives?
Yes, the SAS interface supports SATA3.0 hard drives.
The interface technology of SAS can be backward compatible with SATA, and the Backplane of SAS systems can connect both dual port, high-performance SAS drives and high-capacity, low-cost SATA drives.
The port shape of SAS drives looks similar to that of SATA drives, so SAS and SATA drives can coexist in the same storage system.

The SAS interface is much smaller than a regular SCSI interface and supports 2.5-inch hard drives. SAS adopts a direct point-to-point sequential transmission method, with a maximum transmission rate of up to 3Gbps.
SAS connectors and cables are divided into two types: external connectors and internal connectors. External connectors support 4 physical connections (16 data cables), internal connectors support 2 physical connections (dual ports), and the number of physical connections for cables is 1 or 2 (dual ports).
