At present, the main optical transmission products used for 40G networks include 40G QSFP+ optical transceivers, 40G QSFP+ AOC cables, and 40G QSFP+ DAC cables. In the short distance transmission scheme, 40G QSFP+ DAC high-speed cable and 40G QSFP+ AOC are two commonly used products, both of which have their own advantages. DAC high-speed cable or AOC cable can be selected based on the transmission distance.
40G QSFP+ AOC cables are an ideal interconnection solution for 40G networks with transmission distances between 7M and 100M. If the transmission distance exceeds 100M, the optical signal of 40G QSFP+ AOC will gradually weaken. At present, there are two products for 40G QSFP+AOC cables, namely 40G QSFP+ AOC cables and 40G QSFP+ to 4 * 10G SFP+ AOC cables.
Product Introduction:
1, 40G QSFP + AOC cable
The 40G QSFP+ AOC cable is packaged in a hot swappable QSFP28 package and is a four channel full duplex active optical cable with a maximum speed of 11.3Gbps per channel. The transmission distance can reach up to 100m through OM3 multimode optical fiber.

2, 40G QSFP+ to 4*10G SFP+ AOC cable:
The 40G QSFP+ to 4 * 10G SFP+ AOC cable adopts hot-swappable QSFP+ and SFP+ packaging, and is a 4-channel full duplex active optical cable (including one 40G QSFP+ module and four 10G SFP+ modules). It complies with QSFP+ MSA, SFP+ MSA, IEEE 802.3ba 40GBase-SR4 Ethernet, and IEEE 802.3ae 10GBase-SR Ethernet standards, with a maximum speed of 41.25Gbps. Through OM3 multimode fiber, interconnections up to 100m can be achieved (cable length can be customized).

3, 40G QSFP+ to 4 Duplex LC Breakout AOC Cable
The QSFP+ to 4LC Full Duplex Active Optical Cable is a high-performance, low-power, long-distance interconnection solution. The module has a photoelectric conversion device inside to convert the electrical signals into optical signals and transmit distance up to 100m. The products have four channels, each channel transmission rate up to 10Gb/s, rate of 40Gb/s.

Application
The application scenarios of 40G QSFP+AOC active optical cables mainly include 40G data center computer rooms and cloud computing systems.

In the application of 40G short distance network transmission, 40G AOC active optical cables have no insertion loss and echo loss compared to 40G optical modules, lower material and maintenance costs, and do not require additional fiber optic jumpers, which can help users save more costs. Therefore, using 40G AOC for interconnection of 40G data center equipment within the 100M range is the most cost-effective choice.
